Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of TaoScope. Please read them before relying on anything the Service displays.

1. Agreement to terms

By accessing or using TaoScope (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Service.

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of the Service

TaoScope is a blockchain explorer and analytics platform for the Bittensor network. The Service provides:

  • Network statistics and data visualisation.
  • Subnet, validator, and miner information sourced from the chain and from indexers.
  • Historical charts and analytics.
  • Optional wallet integration for viewing your own balances and delegations.
  • Optional, non-custodial staking and unstaking through a connected browser wallet.
  • TAO and alpha price data displayed on the site.
  • Comparison and estimation tools, including the delegator tools and alpha buy simulator.

The Service is non-custodial

Browsing the Service requires no account and no wallet. Where the Service offers staking and unstaking, it acts only as an interface: it constructs a transaction and passes it to your browser wallet extension, which asks you to review and sign it. TaoScope never holds, controls, or has access to your funds or private keys, and cannot submit a transaction without a signature you approve. You are solely responsible for reviewing every transaction before approving it, and a submitted transaction cannot be reversed by us.

3. Your responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes.
  • Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service.
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Not use automated systems to access the Service excessively or in a way that degrades it for others.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations applicable to you.

4. No financial advice

TaoScope does not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice

  • All information is provided for informational purposes only.
  • We do not recommend any investment, validator, subnet, or trading strategy.
  • Displaying a validator or subnet is not an endorsement of it.
  • Past performance does not indicate future results.
  • Digital assets are volatile and you may lose the entire value of your holdings.

Consult qualified financial, tax, and legal professionals before making decisions. See the full disclaimer.

5. Data accuracy

We aim to present accurate, current information, but:

  • Data is sourced from the Bittensor blockchain and from third-party APIs, principally Taostats.
  • Responses are cached, so displayed values may lag the chain head.
  • Delays, gaps, errors, and discrepancies can occur.
  • Derived values such as daily emission and estimated earnings rely on documented assumptions, described in the metrics glossary.
  • You should verify any information you rely on against the chain directly.

Our sources, caching behaviour, and known limitations are documented in Data sources.

6. Wallet integration

The optional wallet feature lets you view your own Bittensor holdings and, if you choose, stake or unstake TAO. When you use it:

  • The account data we read is publicly available on the blockchain.
  • We never request and never have access to your private keys or seed phrase.
  • The connection and all signing are handled entirely by your browser extension.
  • We do not store your wallet address on our servers.
  • Any staking or unstaking transaction is submitted only after you review and approve it in your extension.
  • Transactions are broadcast to the Bittensor network and cannot be reversed, cancelled, or refunded by us once submitted.
  • You are responsible for verifying the amount, hotkey, and subnet shown in the signing prompt.
  • You remain solely responsible for the security of your wallet.

Never share your seed phrase

Never share your private keys or mnemonic with anyone, including anyone claiming to represent TaoScope. We will never ask for them.

7. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third-party providers and links to external websites, including subnet repositories and community channels.

  • We do not control third-party content and do not endorse it.
  • Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • Use of third-party services and websites is at your own risk.

8. Intellectual property

  • The TaoScope name, logo, and brand are proprietary and may not be used without permission.
  • Our original code is made available under open-source licences where applicable.
  • Blockchain data is public and is not owned by TaoScope.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind.
  • We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
  • We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
  • We are not responsible for losses resulting from reliance on information provided by the Service.
  • We are not liable for losses related to mining, staking, delegation, or trading of digital assets.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TaoScope, its operators, and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of a third party.

11. Service availability

We aim for high availability, but do not guarantee it.

  • Access may be interrupted without notice.
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
  • Maintenance may temporarily affect availability.
  • External factors such as blockchain congestion or third-party rate limits may degrade performance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes arising from these Terms or from your use of the Service should first be raised with us in good faith and, where that does not resolve the matter, resolved through binding arbitration where permitted by law.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact form or to @TaoScope on X.
