Privacy Policy

TaoScope is designed to work without knowing who you are. This policy explains the limited information we do handle.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how TaoScope (“we”, “our”, “us”) handles information when you use our website (the “Service”). We are committed to collecting as little as possible and being explicit about what we do collect.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Wallet addresses, when you choose to connect a wallet. These are public blockchain identifiers.
  • Contact form submissions, including open-role applications: your name, email address, message, an optional role focus, and an optional résumé file. Where a résumé is attached, the file may be stored temporarily in Redis while the submission is processed.
  • Hiring assessment tickets and results, when you complete a Technical or Coding Assessment in the TaoScope VS Code extension after applying for a role.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Basic server logs, including IP address, browser type, and access times, retained for security and abuse prevention.
  • Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics that cannot identify an individual.
  • For hiring assessments: a machine identifier and hostname used to bind a ticket to one computer, plus a live presence signal while the extension is open.

2.3 Blockchain data

The Service displays publicly available data from the Bittensor network, including validator information, subnet data, transaction history, and wallet balances. This data is public by the nature of a blockchain. We read and display it; we do not collect it from you.

2.4 Hiring assessments (VS Code extension)

If you take a TaoScope hiring assessment, the VS Code extension records session data needed to score the attempt and review integrity. Technical Assessment stores answers, timing, and focus-away events. Coding Assessment stores file activity inside the assessment workspace, edit and paste metadata, test and build results, and focus events — after you accept the in-product privacy notice. Environment files, private keys, and generated folders such as node_modules are excluded. Screen capture is off by default.

This data is used only for hiring review of that application. A full account is in Integrity and privacy.

3. What we do not collect

TaoScope does not

  • Use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
  • Store private keys, seed phrases, or mnemonics — we never request them.
  • Sell or share your personal information with third parties.
  • Track your browsing activity on other websites.
  • Require account registration to use the Service.
  • Store wallet connection data on our servers.

4. How we use information

The limited information we collect is used only to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service.
  • Review hiring applications and, when you start an assessment with a valid ticket, score that session and review integrity.
  • Improve the Service and the user experience.
  • Protect against security threats and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

5. Cookies and local storage

TaoScope uses browser storage for essential functionality only. Everything below is stored in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

  • We minimise risk by not storing sensitive personal data in the first place.
